What Is Starlink?

How to Set Up Starlink: Step-by-Step

Step 1: Check Availability and Order

Visit starlink.com, enter your address to check service availability, and place your order. You'll receive a kit containing the dish, a mounting tripod or base, a cable, and a Wi-Fi router.

Step 2: Download the Starlink App

Before installing anything, download the Starlink app (iOS or Android). The app has an augmented reality tool that lets you point your phone at the sky to identify a clear zone — Starlink needs a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Trees, chimneys, and buildings can cause outages.

Step 3: Mount the Dish

  • For most residential setups, the included tripod mount works for ground or rooftop placement.
  • Wall and roof mounts are available separately for permanent installations.
  • Aim for the highest, most unobstructed point you can safely access.

Step 4: Connect the Cable and Power Up
